Internship Opportunities
The Land Trust
Alliance encourages those who want to make a difference in land
conservation to apply for an internship. Interns will gain
firsthand knowledge of local, regional and national land trusts
and the inner workings of a national, nonprofit organization. The Alliance's
national headquarters is in Washington, DC; thus interns can
experience the opportunity of living and working in our nation's
capital.
Internships
at the Alliance are available throughout the year, although the summer months
are most popular. Therefore, it is more competitive to obtain
an internship at that time.
The length
of the internship, as well as the start and end dates, will
be worked out mutually between the Alliance and the applicant.
Typically internships last an average of two to three months. We
hope the duration will be long enough to benefit both parties.
Most internships
at the Alliance are not paid, however the Alliance will work
with students and their advisors on provision of student credit
at their institution of higher education. The Alliance will
make every effort to match each intern with a program that best
suits his or her background and or educational training. An
intern could work with public policy, information services,
development, communications, administration, and training and
conferences.
