Federal
Funding for Local Land Conservation
Land and Water Conservation Fund
In January of 2007, the Land Trust Alliance joined other conservation organizations in supporting increased funding to help protect public lands. See the letter here.
"Healthy
Forests Reserve Program"
In
November 2003, the Congress passed and the President signed H.R.
1904, a large forestry bill. While much of that bill concerns the
operation of the national forests, Title V set up a new "Healthy
Forests Reserve Program", providing payments for private forest
landowners who agree to plans to protect and improve habitat for
endangered and potentially endangered species.
