Dear Friend,

We had a real scare in Washington last week. Trying to wrap up the tax reconciliation bill on short notice before leaving for a two-week recess, Congress considered dropping all the charities provisions in the bill - including an expanded incentive for donations of conservation easements.

LTA and our partners quickly mobilized to help keep the charities issues alive. Congress recessed without making a final decision, but is expected to take up the tax bill in late April. Please check our website for more information on what's at stake - and how you can help.

After fighting so many battles in Washington, it was wonderful to be with old friends at LTA’s Midwest and Northwest regional conferences over the past month. Many were interested in how to prepare for the new accreditation program, and were pleased about LTA’s new training and assessment services. I'll keep you posted on these developments in the months ahead.
